Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for all day to day accounting requirements of the Astrex operation, including but not limited to the monthly financial close process, day to day management of customer collections and vendor payments, analysis of financial results, preparation of the monthly forecast, and other financial support to the Astrex management team.

This position will be located in Windsor, ON.

Reporting Relationships

This position will report directly to the Astrex General Manager, but will work closely with and supervised by the Can Art and Constellium finance team.


  • Preparing monthly financial statements for the Astrex operation in accordance with the policies and process required by the Joint Venture Partners.
  • Determining financial status by comparing and analyzing plans and forecasts with actual results, and providing explanations of key variances
  • Preparing financial models to support different budget and forecast scenarios.
  • Providing assistance to operating management in assigned areas to facilitate proper implementation and control of budgeted plans and objectives.
  • Oversee the day to day administration of customer collections, vendor payments, and overall cash management of the business.
  • Work with external tax consultants and the Joint Venture Partners to ensure that the Company is in compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
  • Completing any other duties as assigned
  • Educational Requirements

  • University degree with a business or finance / accounting focus
  • Pursuing accounting designation would be an asset
  • Work Experience Requirements

    3 to 5 years’ experience in financial analyst role, preferably in a manufacturing environment

    Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial analysis techniques
  • Solid understanding of financial closing processes including financial transaction flows from the source to the general ledger
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills
  • Process oriented with strong project / process improvement skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, macros, financial modeling)
  • Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with strong ability to summarize and present conclusions in a concise, conceptual manner
  • Attention to detail, completeness and accuracy to ensure data integrity
  • Ability to liaise with various functional departments and build effective relationships
  • Demonstrated initiative, high motivation and independent problem solving skills with the ability to create and implement solutions.
