Position Description :

The Cost Accounting Supervisor provides support and timely reporting for 7 business units (5 in Argentina y 2 in Bolivia).

This position is primarily responsible for managing the Cost Accounting Group, providing strong operational support in order to maintain timely and accurate job cost estimates as well as ensuring a timely month end close process.

The position also performs ad hoc projects for Mendoza Finance group and assists with day to day operations. In addition to this, strongly participates giving Cost support on POC projects on Flowserve Latin America sites.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Month End Closing. Journal entry review, variance analysis, closing schedules and supplemental reporting data preparation, and creation and distribution of monthly reports.
  • Participate on Budgeting and forecasting.

  • Supervise and lead the Cost Accounting department.
  • Project Reviews. Supervise the monthly review and validation of job cost estimates to be presented in the monthly project reviews.
  • This requires close management of Cost Accountants while working with Project Managers to prepare the final cost estimates for the month.

    Cost Estimates will be presented for approval to Site management by each individual Project Manager during the monthly project review.

  • Inventory Reporting : Monthly inventory detail reporting and activity reports, monthly review with 'No-Demand, Unreserved' Inventory', as well as OSMI inventory, in addition to progress reports related to Stock and WIP cycle counting.
  • Margin Review and Reporting. Monthly margin variance review and Quarterly margin reporting (by job, product, customer, market and region).
  • Review Labor and Material Absorption Rate . Update rates annually.
  • Balance Sheet Account Review. Monthly preparation and review of all responsible balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • SOX Control / Audit Participation. Participation in regular performance, monitoring and testing of all SOX controls, as well as assist in External and Internal Audits.
  • Direct Reports : Mentor and facilitate the training of the direct reports within the Cost Accounting group. Ensure that all employees within the group complete all annual performance objectives and required monthly / on demand trainings.
  • Position Requirements :

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five years or more of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment, management experience.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX regulations.
  • Experience with a Tier 1 ERP System, a Corporate Financial Reporting system (similar to Hyperion or SAP / BPC), and extensive Access and Excel knowledge
  • Project management capabilities with interest in complex product structures
  • Mentoring, coaching and employee training
  • Conversational fluency in English and local workplace language.
  • Proactive and engaged approach to change / improvement
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Preferences :

  • Five years or more of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment, management experience.
