Overview :

Owns and achieves interim and final contractual deliverables throughout the entire project life for assigned projects, according to the time, quality / scope and cost constraints.

Leads and directs cross-functional teams, understands and manages client expectations / needs to achieve client satisfaction.

Proactively identifies, resolves / mitigates and escalates risks and / or issues. Adheres to PRA standard procedures and processes.

Qualified project managers may act as the Global Project Manager in international projects. Consequently, accomplished PMs may provide oversight to other members of the project management group.

In Drug Safety / Pharmacovigilance : Responsible for achieving successful delivery of safety and risk activities on assigned standalone projects, by meeting internal and external client requirements according to time, quality, scope, and budget constraints.

Serves as a safety representative during the business development process.

Qualifications

Has general knowledge or understanding of project management skills and processes from previous related positions of responsibility Uses existing techniques to prepare proactive solutions to immediate problems and future risks.

  • Performs specific, routine analysis of data to present appropriate courses of action to manage team and sponsor’s expectations.
  • Solves routine issues. May seek assistance to resolve more complex and difficult issues.
  • Follows established procedures identify needs that deviate from normal SOP process. Seeks assistance to initiate any protocol specific procedures.
  • Able to work independently but work may need to be supervised for some tasks. May require assistance on complex or global tasks.

    Responsibilities

    Acts as primary liaison with client : o Chairs and leads customer meetings, acts as lead contact for regional-level matters and / or if assigned as primary project manager, as the cross-functional study lead.

    o Understands / manages / satisfies client contractual, organizational and relationship needs / expectations.o Provides regular reporting on project metrics, status of deliverables and risks / issues with the associated management plan to client.

    o Gains an understanding of the overall Clinical Development Plan for the asset and how the project(s) fit within the client’s final development and corporate objectives.

  • Leads and directs cross-functional team leaders and third parties / vendors with some supervision and support : o Validates project plan (multi-service plan and communication plan).
  • o Contributes to development, maintenance and approval of project plans. Guides and supports team leads in prioritizing, trouble-shooting and contingency planning.

    o Delegates while retaining ownership, guides and supports team leads in prioritizing, trouble-shooting and contingency planning.

    o Understands and communicates the importance / impact of the project within the client’s Clinical Development Plan, communicates project-specific priorities.

    o Liaises with functional leads / managers to optimize performance and utilization of project team members.Manages project contractual deliverables : o Able to identify risks and issues through ongoing review of project progress and metrics and implementing adequate follow up actions to ensure adherence to the contractual agreement (time, quality / scope, and cost deliverables).

    o Leads presentation of internal project status reviews and is accountable for action item follow up.o Proactively identifies, resolves / mitigates and escalates risks and / or issues for assigned projects until resolution.

    Also, functions as a point of escalation for project teams.

  • Manages project costs : o Owns projections of units / hours (revenue and resources), actual units / hours efficiency analysis.
  • Ensures that project team resource allocations are in line with budget and to achieve deliverables.o Proactively and timely identifies, negotiates and executes contract modifications for assigned projects, ensuring out of scope activities are approved upfront via a contract modification.

    Identifies potential or actual unrecoverable hours and provides analysis and mitigation / resolution plan for senior management’s approval.

    o Ensures control of financial risk to PRA. Leads presentation of financial reviews and is accountable for action item follow up.

    o In cooperation with the project analyst, applies efficient management of project pass-through costs and investigators payments to ensure all such costs are recovered in a timely manner, and in advance where ever possible.

  • Other : o Ensures adherence to company SOP, policies and guidelines at the project level.o Assumes project leadership role in compliance at project level to PRA processes and systems including escalation to relevant functional and operational management.
  • o Participation and attendance in bid defense process. Able to conceptualize and articulate dynamic operational strategies, then mobilize project teams to those strategies.

  • Mentoring of other members of the project management team or functional leads, as required. Provides feedback on project team member’s performance to respective line-managers.
