As the lead for legal activities for the company across the region, business units and sub-function areas in the country and / or across multiple countries, you identify business needs and design, develop and drive the implementation of Mondelēz International ’s legal strategy through the service delivery model and governance to support commercial and corporate initiatives.

You lead and advise the business on risk, anticipating and addressing internal and external factors, direct other legal colleagues in the execution of our legal approach, and decide the direction to take to address legal issues or concerns.

  • In addition, you are also a leader and expert in a legal specialty area of responsibility or are a region or business unit lead;
  • lead, review and revamp legal teams in a continuously changing environment; and ensure the availability of new technologies, systems and services in the strategy framework.

    How you will contribute

    You will lead in setting and implementing legal strategies that enable Mondelēz International to compete and to protect our people, assets and reputation while complying with legal requirements and standards of ethical conduct.

  • In addition to these contributions, you will also lead the legal team in providing legal services to the company at an optimal cost considering internal and external resources, technologies and systems;
  • provide legal guidance to ensure managers make informed decisions regarding legal operational risks; manage the legal strategy with outside counsel, including spending without compromising financial and reputational risk;
  • address the complex legal environment by partnering with business units, regions and global stakeholders to identify and advise on laws and regulatory changes for a given country and / or across multiple countries identifying risks and opportunities for the company.

  • More about this role :

    Chief Counsel Southern Cone will also have accountability for the Corporate Affairs agenda in the BU as follow :

  • Develop and implement strategy, aligned with global and regional direction. Decision maker for key internal and external affairs decisions.
  • Ensure alignment with regional agenda : Participate on global CGA LA LT and lead related projects on behalf of the function.
  • Drive Internal and External Communications : Lead communication governance for BU. Counsel, guide and coach BU LT on communications.
  • Drive BU strategic comms plan. Engage directly in high-risk / high-opportunity situations.
  • Spokesperson with key media. Owner for content calendar for BU. Lead proactive plan (offensive strategies), and defend company (defense strategies) in BU.
  • Counsel, guide and coach BU on PA topics.
  • Lead high-risk situations. Represent MDLZ and advocate on key issues in high-level trade association meetings (H&W, trade barriers, etc.).
  • Oversight of market political calendar and monthly risk mapping.
  • Oversee reporting efforts on behalf of BU for regional and global reports. May play role on regional / global teams and projects, such as COEs and REPs
  • Professional and academic requirements :

  • Law degree;
  • Master’s degree is a Plus;
  • Admitted to practice law in the country or at least one country within the area, if responsibility is for several countries;
  • Impeccable professional and personal integrity background;
  • Seasoned in-house lawyer with at least 13 years’ experience at prestigious law firms and / or international companies;
  • Generalist background with broad exposure to multiple legal disciplines core area being every aspect of commercial law;
  • Experience in Marketing, Manufacturing and / or Sales law or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry experience preferred but not mandatory;
  • Great interpersonal skills, team-work, approachable and team builder; breakthrough thinker;
  • Ability to work under pressure with a sense of diplomacy;
  • Strong business acumen and experience combined with broad legal background.
  • Strong strategic leadership orientation combined with a strong analytical & conceptual thinking demonstrated through experience in previous roles;
  • Strong corporate affairs experience across multiple CGA disciplines

We produce over 40 iconic and delicious brands with more than 400 products including Milka, Oreo, Cadbury and Tang, and local jewels like Mantecol, Cerealitas, Terrabusi and Clight, among others.

    More than 3,300 wonderful people proudly work make our delicious snacks at three production plants in Argentina : the Pacheco Plant in Buenos Aires Province, the Victoria Plant (also in Buenos Aires Province), and Villa Mercedes Plant in Villa Mercedes Province.
