  • As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders;
  • devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers;
  • and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

    As Communications Manager focused on News and Publishers you will be in charge of creating and deploying a communication strategy for the news industry in Latin America, including proactive actions showcasing our products, programs and services, dealing with crisis, and other communications.

    It will be crucial to understand the news industry in the region, its needs, challenges and opportunities to align with what Google can offer to them.

    You will also understand the news and publishers world outside of Latin America (specially Europe) as a lot of what happens there has a direct impact globally.

    This will be a regional role and the daily work will be executed with local PR leads.

    We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders and our own employees about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture / values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day.

    You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines.

    Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, comms, marketing, product and beyond.

    Responsibilities

  • Create compelling strategies and communications activities to showcase Google’s commitment with the news industry, as well as with economic and regulatory debates.
  • Develop communications materials to support Google's messaging toward the news industry and regulatory world.
  • Train and advise company executives for major conferences, media interviews, social media presence, etc.
  • Work with local PR Leads, global PR colleagues, and internal business stakeholders to align on strategies, anticipate crisis and work on those when they arrive.
  • Minimum qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in media, journalism, editorial, political, non-profit, or business environment with focus on editing communications materials.
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Spanish fluently.
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Experience with the news industry in the Latin America region.
  • Ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced environments, as well as ability to escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion.
  • Ability to work with colleagues in different countries and understand cultural differences.
  • Ability to speak Portuguese.
