JOB SUMMARY As a member of the MBS Payroll Governance team, the Senior Manager, Payroll Systems will be responsible for ensuring that the configuration, testing and maintenance of the payroll system are completed timely and accurately.
The Senior Manager will support the overall Marriott Internal payroll system and business processes to ensure we are compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements (including to adhering to union contracts, MI Benefit & Absence Policies and SOX Controls.
The Senior Manager will manage the testing plan for Oracle quarterly releases, JIRA defects, change requests / enhancements.
He / she will maintain a control system environment where requirements are gathered, documented, reviewed, tested, and maintained for the payroll process.
The Senior Manager will collaborate with MI BPO providers to ensure they design, develop / build, test and maintain the payroll system in accordance with federal, state, local requirements, and MI standards (including but not limited to role security, configuration, integrations, extensions, UDTs, fast formulas and reporting).
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS Serve as the advanced technical / functional resource for the MBS Payroll Governance Team. With understanding of MI Payroll, Benefit and Absence Plans and the overall Oracle Solution.
Gather and maintain payroll, benefits, and absence management system requirements Assist with translating functional requirements into technical requirements Define test conditions Determine processing needs (data loads, interfaces, extensions, business processes and data monitoring / validation reports) Provide system application of support changes, triage, and guidance.
Drive forward test execution and monitor progress. Review validations and provide findings / updates to stakeholders. Manage and develop the Payroll Benefits and Absence Analysts that will monitor and oversee benefits and absence transactions during each payroll cycle.
Work with Director of Payroll Systems to conduct business impact and cost benefit analysis in support of the decision-making processes related to change requests and enhancements.
Ensure that potential issues are identified early, and Payroll and Benefits leadership and other key stakeholders are informed of the issue immediately.
Assist with developing a communication plan to impacted stakeholders. Support the development and implementation of strategies to improve financial and operational performance of the payroll, benefits, and absence process.
Provide Support to Payroll and Benefits Accounting for GL reporting and account reconciliations. Work effectively with the Benefits and Absence Teams to ensure an accurate and world class payroll environment.
Supports the implementation of new units, elements integrations, fast formulas, extensions, enhancements for configuration and testing in a timely and effective manner.
Contribute to the implementation of new business processes as they need to be documented and rolled out to the payroll user community.
Contributes to achievement of team objectives and outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs. CANDIDATE PROFILE Key Talents and Experience Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in payroll management.
Deep technical knowledge of Oracle HCM. Advanced analytic skills and experience working with large data sets; high-level proficiency with Excel (vlookups and pivot tables) Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Knowledge of benefit and absence programs as related to the payroll process.
Project Management Skills preferred. Solid qualitative and quantitative analytical skills; ability to take large volumes of complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to manage multiple projects, and work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal skills; able to maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers.
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing; listens to others and effectively comprehends information; creates an environment allowing timely information flows throughout the organization.
Responsive; able to integrate and balance priorities, work activities and resources for the benefit of multiple key stakeholders.
