Job Summary :
The Windows Server Engineers are responsible for designing and defining the Windows Server products we use in EY. This include the baseconfiguration, standards, Golden Imagesl and toolset.
The products we develop are half a layer above IaaS in that we aliviate the burden of manageging the OS for our clients, while also ensuring the products are prepare integrate seamleesly with platform sevices and line of business applications.
We deliver our product in private clouds, public clouds and traditional environments.
Automation is a key aspect of the role; the provisioning and operation of these products and services is automated by the Windows Engineers.
This includes but is not limited to : Configuration Management, Server Deployment process, Software Packaging for automated deployment, automated response to monitored events, automation of operational activities, creation of templates and blueprints for complex deployments.
A Senior Windows Server Engineer will also act as lead engineer on global projects, reporting directly to project manager or functional lead.
As we transition from traditional IT to Cloud and Configuration Management a mix of Dev and Ops will be expected, so we are looking for candidates that afeel comfortable both working with Infrastructure or Code, most specifically IaC code.

Essential Functions of the Job :
Windows Server Platform engineering, Architecture definition, Standard definition based on best practices
Design and supervise the development of the Golden Images for Windows Servers
Integrate the Golden Images with Server Provisioning processes and systems
Act as technical Lead for projects and work with the SCRUM Master (and act as in some cases) to coordinate the activities of the project teams
Design and supervise the development of Automation and Configuration Management solutions
Onboarding and Readiness of new version of the Windows Server Operating System
Onboarding of new technologies and Evaluation / certification of Windows Serverthird party management agents and management software
Consulting and providing technical advice for major projects and solution Design based on their business requirements
Ad-hoc high visibility assignments commonly requiring automation and Windows Server plattform skillsm, and reporting from different sources (WQL and SQL language) like Active Directory, DB, etc.
Analytical / Decision Making Responsibilities :
Provide technical leadership, coaching and coordinate small teams of people for projects and initiatives
Translate the requirements of stakeholders, Product Owner and Product Manager into actionable backlog items and a manageable roadmap
Supervise (as Product Owner) the development and delivery of product engineering teams for product maintenance activities
Deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations / people under pressure, such as restoring services
Be able to make on the spot decisions based on direction from Product Owner and stakeholders
Knowledge and Skills Requirements :
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server
Strong understanding of Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud concepts and relevant providers such as Azure, AWS, Azure Stack
Excellent understanding of compute, network, storage and virtualization and Cloud Computing concepts
Programing background or equivalent knowledge of structured programming and object-oriented programming for scripting
Advanced scripting with PowerShell, VBS and WMI / CIM
Experience working with Agile / SCRUM Development process and understanding of DevOps
Experience with Visual Studio Code or IDE and Source Code management tools (Git repos, Azure DevOps Repos, TFS repos, etc)
Experience working with Agile Development process and understanding of DevOps
Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, PowerShell DSC and CI / CD Servers like Azure DevOps and Jenkins
Good understanding VMware vSphere infrastructure
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and SCCM OS Deployment (OSD) Desired
Good knowledge of server hardware, preferably Dell PowerEdge Desired
Very Strong Problem Solving and Analytical skills
Ability to write technical documentation and procedures
Ability to work in a virtual team with an inclusive mindset and midful of cultural differences
Ability communicate effectively with management, clients, and collegues
