What will you do at Ciena?

The position drives maintenance renewals in North America and CALA by providing accurate and timely commercial support including deal analysis, strategy, and pricing.

The employee can be located anywhere in North America or CALA.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Manage renewal opportunities by working with sales, service, and other functions as required to provide an accurate, complete, and professional maintenance renewal package.
  • Subject Matter Expert for the Ciena services portfolio.
  • Complete understanding of and compliance to Ciena’s internal processes and governance (Opportunity Management Process - OMP) as relates to bid activity and contract negotiations for a region or set of accounts.
  • Prepares detailed financial analysis for renewals for presentation to executives, as required.
  • Ensures all deals coming forward for approval are prepared accurately and objectively and reflective the anticipated outcome should the customer select our bid.
  • Provides risk assessments and mitigation to all supported commercial transactions and ensures that any exposures are captured within P&L analysis and approvals of the business opportunities.
  • Knowledgeable of Revenue recognition requirements and impacts through the engagement in all commercial transactions.
  • Interfaces and influence the internal cross functional teams as relates to deal management when required such as Operations, Services, Finance, Legal etc.
  • Be comfortable working in a global organization.
  • Skills Required :

  • Preferable to be fluent in spoken and written Spanish and English; Portuguese an asset OR be a US Citizen
  • Understanding of financial analysis
  • Background in quoting desirable
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional team
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with sales
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced business where balancing competing priorities is essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
