Buyers are the mid-level position in the Buying job family and take their instructions from the Buying Manager or Buying Team Leader.
What you'll be doing
Receive and act on orders
The Buyer is responsible for receiving and acting on orders from clients to procure products, services and licences.
The Buyer is responsible for receiving and acting on complex purchase orders from clients to procure products, services and licences.
Buyer are more experienced buyers who are able to deal with more complex buying requests. Similar to the buyers, the Buyer will receive orders from clients which they will need to capture and process by placing orders against vendors.
Manage purchase orders
Buyer have advanced proficiency in managing and applying purchase order conditions including pricing and discounts.
They interact and communicate with vendors to gather information and to negotiate certain actions.
Queries are escalated to Buyer and they are required to resolve the bulk of normal queries before they escalate to purchasing team leaders.
Manage purchase process
Buyers partner closely with the logistics and financial teams to help ensure that the full purchasing process is executed successfully.
Ensure client satisfaction
Client satisfaction is a key driver for a Buyer and they are expected to display a strong focus on client satisfaction.
As a good corporate citizen, the Buyer is required to manage his / her work processes and time in a mature way and to mentor more junior colleagues when required.
A Buyer is required to recommend improvements to processes, systems and services and to assist in implementing these improvements.
