As the primary WC&BE (Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics) and LAW representative within the Argentina affiliate, the focus of this position is handling healthcare compliance and legal matters associated with Amgen's operations in Argentina, including compliance of healthcare provider relationship anti-corruption and bribery laws.

  • This dynamic position will provide broad based compliance and legal support services to Amgen's commercial, medical and other business functions in the Argentina affiliate, and serve as an advisor to the General Manager and the Management Team;
  • and be responsible for identifying, triaging, coordinating, and leading compliance and legal related activities between Argentina and various corporate functions, and will also have responsibility for privacy / data protection issues.

    Job Responsabilities + Provide the GM and other local Management Team members with strategic compliance and legal support and advice on such matters as new projects / initiatives, launch planning and activities, Tone at the Top initiatives, and annual goals and business plans.

  • Provide leadership, advice, guidance, direction and support to office and field-based staff, and applicable third parties, on the interpretation and implementation of the local Code of Practice and Amgen healthcare compliance policies, procedures and practices.
  • Draft, revise and maintain all local healthcare compliance SOPs and Policies. + Support the development and implementation of the Global Compliance System of Record.
  • Develop training materials and deliver frequent healthcare compliance and anti-corruption trainings, including new hire orientation.
  • Implement all requirements of the Global Anti-Bribery and Corruption (including Distributors) program. + Conduct local Healthcare Compliance monitoring activities and support the business in designing and implementing improvement actions.
  • Support the local implementation and ongoing management of the global third-party due diligence program. + Working with the GM, responsible for setting up the local Compliance Committee, and providing ongoing management of Committee activities.
  • Provide compliance oversight of distributors in Latin America, including training of distributor staff, and support during audits, monitoring and investigations.
  • Support periodic audits and design reviews. + Support local investigations as required. + Serve as the country Data Privacy Officer.
  • Basic Qualifications + Law degree from recognized university. Qualification to practice law in Argentina + 5+ years of practice at a top law firm, corporate law department, or a combination of both + Experience as attorney working in a legal department of a multi-national company (healthcare sector experience preferred) + Contract drafting skills and knowledge of general commercial law (third parties, including distributors and wholesalers), labor law and dispute resolution + Experience of working in, or for, the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry, some of that experience involving the implementation of compliance programs, policies and training and an understanding of pharmaceutical and other regulations, sales, marketing and medical practices, and industry codes of conduct (e.

    g., The Argentine Medical Association Code of Ethics for the Health Team). + Native-level fluency in Spanish, and fluency in English required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Strong interpersonal skills, a flexible, collaborative and team-oriented approach to problem-solving and an ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities and provide high level of services across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a larger in-house legal and compliance groups. + Flexibility to travel within Argentina, to other Latin America distributor locations and other international locations (as needed).
  • Preferred Qualifications + General understanding of privacy laws and intellectual property. + Management of outside counsel engagements and budgets.
