  • UN Women, based on the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls;
  • the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security.

    The six priority areas are :

    1. Expand the voices, leadership and participation of women.

    2. Eliminate violence against women and girls.

    3. Strengthen the implementation of the women's peace and security agenda.

    4. Increase the economic autonomy of women. Make gender equality priorities essential at national, local and sectoral plans, budgets and statistics.

    5. Implement global norms, policies and parameters on gender equality and the empowerment of women, laying the groundwork for action by governments and other stakeholders at all levels.

    Two international agreements form the basis of the work of UN Women : the Beijing Platform for Action, the result of the Fourth World Conference on Women held in 1995, and the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women, considered as the Fundamental Declaration of the Rights of Women.

    The spirit of these agreements was reaffirmed in the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agreed by the member states for 2030, particularly in SDG 5 "Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls."

    As part of the response to the COVID-19 crisis in Argentina, the selected person will administratively and financially assist the program Socio-economic recovery to the crisis caused by COVID-19 from a gender perspective : promoting the economic autonomy of women and the care of elderly and disabled people in Argentina by UN Women within the framework of the response and socio-economic recovery of Argentina in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
