JPMorgan Chase is seeking an Associate Counsel who can provide legal support to its merchant acquiring business, part of J.

P. Morgan’s Wholesale Payments business within the Corporate and Investment Bank. The Wholesale Payments business operates across multiple countries and its principal activities include providing cash management, merchant acquiring, commercial card, liquidity and escrow services.

The role will be heavily focused on transactional work while still involving a wide range of general business legal work.

Responsibilities :

This role includes work on a wide range of legal matters, projects, basic legal research and strategic initiatives, including :

  • Providing legal support and advice to the Wholesale Payments businesses across Latin America and North America on a wide range of client-related transactional matters including reviewing, drafting and finalizing contracts with the Wholesale Payment clients based on internal guidance and standard operating procedures; and
  • Liaising and coordinating with local, regional and global legal counter-parts, and functional and business partners on legal issues including cross-border and cross-business activities and projects.
  • The duties will require drafting skills, initiative, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to escalate problems.

    Qualifications :

  • Seeking bilingual candidates that are fluent in written and spoken English, with excellent English writing and oral communication skills.
  • Law degree and membership in jurisdictional organization. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Prior experience working at a law firm or a financial institution.
  • Ability to communicate well and work in a cross-functional, cross-jurisdiction, team to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and respond to business needs and goals.
  • The location of this position is Buenos Aires, Argentina.
