ROLE DESCRIPTION. The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for the overall Pfizer relationship with a select portfolio of key accounts.

The KAM is the General Manager of the key accounts and is responsible for profitable & sustainable growth as well as the commercial performance of key accounts.

  • The KAM should be proficient at planning and executing an effective relationship strategy and building / maintaining effective, long-term business relationships at the senior executive level with key decision makers and influencers within each key account.
  • The KAM identifies and prioritizes Pfizer opportunities through understanding customers’ business and strategic imperatives.

    Responsible for developing and executing an effective Key Account Plan for each identified key account.. RESPONSIBILITIES.

    Pfizer Key Account Management responsibilities are segmented into three key areas of focus : Customer Engagement, Account Management, and Leadership.

  • CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT. Identifies key customers including Decision Making Units (DMUs) within the key account.. Leads, coordinates and manages the long-term, consultative, senior executive customer relationship to become the customer’s trusted business advisor.
  • Extends the relationship beyond traditional procurement and contracting into other lines of business.. Demonstrates expertise in relationship skills which promote and enable development of new relationships within the key accounts.

  • Creatively delivers innovation and thought leadership to the key account relationship to increase strategic relevance of the Pfizer brand.
  • Represents the full spectrum of Pfizer value to the customer and serves as the customer advocate internally at Pfizer..
  • Responsible for overall service excellence with key accounts.. ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT. Manages all Pfizer commercial activities around a set of key accounts to achieve agreed upon business objectives.

  • Ensures that sales opportunities are maximized across the total Pfizer Portfolio.. Analyzes and understands local environment, key account business, and aligned Pfizer priorities to create mutually beneficial Key Account Plans that optimize sales opportunities and deliver improved key account outcomes.
  • Implements and manages the Key Account Plan to drive the resources needed to develop mutually beneficial opportunities within key accounts.
  • Creates and executes value propositions developed from key market and account insights.. Works to ensure provider access to Pfizer products within key accounts.
  • Solves patient cases regarding access issues with the key accounts.. Monitors progress with key accounts and evolves Key Account Plans as appropriate.
  • Anticipates, mitigates, and manages the risks to both Pfizer and key accounts.. LEADERSHIP. Applies a mastery of business acumen, including understanding of key account business, industry, economic trends, issues and competition.
  • Leads development of Key Account Plans that align Pfizer core capabilities to key account strategic imperatives.. Leads the process of developing, negotiating, and implementing contracts that mutually meet key account and Pfizer requirements.
  • Is able to take a short / mid / long-term view of Pfizer’s business with key accounts, aligning across Pfizer Business Units when appropriate.
  • Provides SAMs key local and customer specific insights that can be utilized in creating new market specific materials..
  • Is the Field Force point of contact for each category working in alignment to transform captured opportunities into real actions.

  • Participates in industry and business related organizations, societies, conferences, and other Key Account Management related activities.
  • Demonstrates highest level of team work and professionalism.. SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE. Can provide evidence of having developed and executed business strategies to substantially increase account growth.
  • Has experience in proactively engaging at senior executive level within account organizations.. Demonstrates an understanding of organizational resources, priorities, needs and policies of both Pfizer and customer accounts.
  • Has in-depth industry knowledge and expertise.. Has demonstrated ability to build strong network of senior executive contacts within the industry.
  • Demonstrates creativity and judgment in delivering innovative new approaches and solutions that meet customer requirements.

  • Has experience in analyzing complex new situations, anticipates potential problems & future needs, and assesses opportunity impacts and risks.
  • Able to articulate a differentiated value proposition to the customer.. Team-oriented style and manner to work collaboratively and effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrates business consulting skills including : Problem solving, Negotiation, Influence, Facilitation, Listening, and Project Management.
  • Demonstrates business skills including and understanding of financial and business drivers, political, economic, legal, and cultural factors and how these impact Pfizer and key accounts.
  • QUALIFICATIONS. Management and / or Account Management experience strongly recommended.. Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • Previous pharmaceutical, biotech, medical or massive consumption marketing, sales and / or commercial experience preferred.
