The Work You'll Do :
Reporting to a Product Development Director or VP, the Principal Software Engineer serves not only as a technical leader within a Line of Business, but also as a team coach.
They are responsible for being solid technical experts, as well as coaches able to get their teams to achieve high performance and a culture of continual improvement.
The ideal candidate has an established track record of 4+ years of technical leadership and hands on team coaching.
More specifically you will :
Advanced knowledge in Agile Methodologies :
Exposure to at least one of the following : LESS, Scrum, Kanban
Test Driven Development
Continuous Integration and Deployment
Simple Design and Test
Participate in all the phases of software development life cycle from requirement gathering to deployment of the product
Lead the development and testing of new software applications and solutions.
Proven ability to interface with Product Management
Proven ability to lead and elevate performance of software development teams
Lead the development, testing and deployment of software solutions including estimating development schedules and determining project scope
Champion a culture of code quality and continual learning and growth throughout the department
Skilled in software / systems architecture
Expert in Object-Oriented design principles (design patterns, SOLID).
Conduct peer reviews to ensure quality
Make use of tools and concepts in debugging and troubleshooting
Established ability to integrate technology, process, test and business practices
Help define & maintain design specifications and standards as well as coach others in adopting them
Proactively identify problem areas and work towards their resolution with team
Identify product requirements and potential improvements and discuss them with the Software Development Manager
Participate in existing code maintenance and customer issue resolution
Assumes and executes additional responsibilities as assigned
Develops trust and models open, candid, respectful communication and collaborative teamwork
Manages priorities effectively, assessing when to work as an individual contributor and when to switch focus to help others with their responsibilities
Always keeps in mind Software attributes such as Security, Performance, Scalability
What We Need From You :
8-11 years of experience in the software industry preferred
Excellent communication skills
Expert in development environments, debugging tools, source control systems
Good understanding of OOAD, software engineering principles
Strong relational database experience using SQL and ORM tools
Experience coding multi-tier global-ready enterprise systems offered via SaaS
Proven work experience on an enterprise-level project.
Solid understanding of Agile Methodologies
Able to cultivate interpersonal Customer / Partner relationships and cohesive team interactions
Assertive self-starter with excellent organizational skills
Intellectually curious about improving software business and technology
Exposure to Databases (SQL, MySQL)
Experience with ERPs (Oracle, SAP)
