Background Information : The Deodorant category has had many years of consecutive double digit growth, based, in part, on fabulously innovative and consumer preferred products across three global brands : Rexona, Axe and Dove.
This job, working on new product development projects, will deliver consumer preferred innovations for Unilever at regional and global levels and ensure that Unilever’s Deodorant category is industry leading.
This job is based in the packaging function within the Regional Design Centre (RDC). The job holder will have the responsibility for delivering the packaging mix for their projects, additionally they will be expected to lead, deliver and support elements of the deodorants business strategy ( SC Support, VIP’s, etc).
Main job purpose : Packaging Development and Technical Project Leadership for Deodorant Category, that meets regional consumer needs before the competition, delivering growth and profit for the Business.
In addition, responsibility for specific technical related projects / initiatives for the business as VIP’s , SC Support projects.
Also build and extend industrial capabilities within the Business Cat. Strategy. Key Accountabilities : 1- Participate in global packaging development projects 2- Ensure that work is carried out efficiently, promptly and reported internally and externally on time as part of the team work attribution.
3- Build and use Global (as well as Regional and Local, when necessary) network. 4- Maintain contact with GDC for development support.
5- Exploit consumer’s needs in order to implement and develop relevant packaging systems. 6- Responsible for assisting consumer test design regarding prototype packaging.
7- Develop prototyping skills internally and / or along with complementors. 8- Develop external complementors in order to amplify innovation possibilities.
9- Manage innovation information about packaging, product and consumer using it as a base to generate relevant insights 10- Responsible for carrying out and reporting production trials of packaging under development.
Active participation in filling line trials at UL factories / Copackers in US, together with SC TIMQ. 11- Share responsibility to develop efficient, cost effective and complete packaging for all new product developments including pilot moulds and scale-up testing.
12- Ensure the accuracy and updating of all packaging specifications within the various management systems. 13- Ensure that quality feature is built into packaging under development to meet reliable capability in the manufacturing facilities.
Owner of packaging components approval within Development phase. In addition , commissioning of the conversion lines at manufacturers is part of his / her responsibility in conjunction with SC TIMQ.
14- Provide technical support to advertising claims or legal requirements. 15- Jointly prepares with the teams all necessary documents according to the Innovation Funnel requirements.
Ensure that all technical information is registered and available. 16- Be the primary contact point with packaging suppliers regarding to packaging component development.
